Tools and Ideas to Help Improve Vocabulary
Voicethread
Have students choose a vocabulary term that they would like to study. Give them criteria as to how they are to present this information to you. A good practice is to have them comment on their vocabulary word and then find something meaningful to go with one or more of their vocabulary terms. Once they are done this, they can comment on their peers work. Let's try it now.

Have students create an acrostic poem where they describe the vocabulary word. Upload the pictures to the voicethread and have the students comment on each others work.

Using Padlet
Padlet is a free tool to create an online bulletin board that you can use to display information on any topic. You can add images, links, video, and more. Walls can be private, open to the public, or moderated by you- meaning that you approve all contributions before they show.
You can use Padlet to:
- engage students in words related to the things around them
- build on key vocabulary: have them define, illustrate, provide examples, links, video, use in a sentence, etc.
- show what they learned about key terms throughout a lesson...what did they know about the word to start, what connections were made
